apple picking

A few of us went apple picking at the Door Creek Orchard here in Madison, WI.  It was really lovely although I wore a long sleeve shirt and still got eaten alive by mosquitoes!  It was earlier in the day and EXTREMELY bright, but I still wanted to shoot because the farm was so darn cute.

Wanted to share this adorable video from one of my best friends Heather.  She has been with Jersey Boys on Broadway since the beginning and is finally taking the plunge and moving back to CA.  I will miss her so much in NYC :(

one month until the big v-day

We've got one month until Valentine's day....start your prep now! Bust out those hearts, love notes and candies. Tell everyone how much you love them :)

Valentine's Day from the lovely Gary Marshall {Pretty Woman, Raising Helen, Princess Diaries, to name a few} comes out Feb. 12. It will be a TOTAL romantic comedy {love} and its got a HUGE cast of notables. Get your girls together or drag your someone....should be fun!

I celebrated my December birthday with 2 shows! Hurrah! {I'm 31....ugh.}

Everyone made a great effort to make it a spectacular event. I share my actual birthday with castmate and dear friend Daniel Torres. We had a party after the 2nd show at a great little restaurant in downtown Schenectady called Ambition. They reopened their place just for us to have our little party. So VIP!

Since Daniel and I were born on the same day same year we had a TWINSIE party where everyone had to come as a twin. We went as "Sagitari-twins!" So clever, soooo Daniel's genius. But we had some awesome ideas too....a Michael Jackson pair, conjoined twins, a fierce dressed girl {Kristine} with a picture of her dead twin in a locket, and classic twins. For those who didn't dress up Daniel and I decided we should SHAME them by having them wear stick on mustaches all night. Sorry, but you should have dressed up :)

I had my birthday dinner at Friendly's. BIG mistake. Not good. Was sick all night during the show. I thought for some reason I had my birthday here when I was younger. Nope. Oops!

merry and bright

It's been kind of a rough week.

Within the past 5 days I have...

turned 31
been diagnosed with bronchitis/pneumonia
missed 3 shows because I was on bed rest
missed our secret santa dinner and door decorating contest
flew home {2 layovers} for 24 hours to celebrate with my family

I am thankful for the short time I have with my family. I miss them so.
We will get to talk to our missionary brother tomorrow. So excited!
Tonight we will read of Christ's birth and open presents from Christmas Eve {jammies}.
See you next week when hopefully I'll be all better!

My foolproof method for getting in the Christmas spirit?

Watch a favorite Christmas movie. Check out my favorites.
Christmas Smells: simmer water, cinn sticks, cloves, orange peels on the stove--yum!
Bake, decorate, do projects, etc.
Fire in the fireplace
Wrap your gifts....nothing gets me more excited!

Speaking of things to make you feel merry....name this movie:
"First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle."

the spirit of christmas

Oh how I've been struggling with the holiday's this year. It is the first year in many that I am working over the holidays and to add misery to the mix I am far away from family and all of my special things that dress up my home for Christmas. I keep trying to purchase items that will fill my soul with the feelings of Christmas, but of course I have not been able to really feel that joyful feeling that this time of year brings.

My aunt Susie sent me this video and I am happy to say I am finally feeling a bit of Christmas spirit. A total textbook case, I was looking in all of the wrong places. The joy and merriment of this time of year can only come from the celebration and remembrance of my Savior. No toy, gadget, pricey hot chocolate or tune can quite match the warm feelings I get when I remember the reason for Christmas. We celebrate Christ's birth and in turn the life he led and his ultimate sacrifice for each and every one of us. May we all pause for a moment, stop the endless baking and gift lists and give thanks for the Savior. Merriest of Christmases to you!

flip and tumble

So, as a quick update....my computer is still being fixed. Let's just say that someone at the Kansas City Apple Store made a HUGE mistake and I am pretty unhappy without my computer. But, a big shout out to Ray at customer service who gave me a decent gift card to the apple store. I have quite a few notes for gifts and projects on there which is a huge setback for me....oh well, on to the next!

I decided that a great gift for my dressing room gals would be the fantastic Flip and Tumble bags. We are a "going green" company and I thought this would be a great gift for us to use...since we do love to shop! Any good gift ideas from you? I would love to hear them!

Making something handmade for Christmas gifts this year? I saw some Peppermint Bark at Costco and am thinking what a great and inexpensive way to give a gift to the masses. Put a few pieces in a cellophane bag and print out a holiday label to staple over the top. Easy peasy!

Little sis Caitlyn had a going away Thanksgiving potluck party for Elizabeth Smart {who we lovingly refer to as 'smartie'}. Her invites were adorable! Caitlyn and Elizabeth spent a semester in London and have remained friends since. Elizabeth has headed off to Paris to serve a mission for our church and I wish her the best!
