Casey and I ventured up to Whistler and went zip-lining and took an amazing gondola ride up the mountain. We fell in love with our Aussie zip-line pros who took us on the course....which was awesome by the way. I did some sweet upside down work on the line :) It was a gorgeous and foggy day complete with a rainbow at the top of the mountain and a brown bear sighting!

Casey and I have great adventures together!

I went to Banff with dear friends Peter and Tiffany. Talk about Paradise! It is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever seen. The glacial water is the most beautiful color....it felt like heaven! We saw the Takkakaw Falls, canoed Lake Louise, toured the Fairmont Hotel on Lake Louise, picnicked near a beautiful river, shopped in Banff, changed clothes (Peter almost had a heart attack doing this, ha) in the Banff Fairmont Hotel and ate one of the most delicious meals I have ever had with one of the most exquisite views. We wrapped the day by visiting a friend's cabin and noshing on s'mores. A perfect end to a perfect day!

vancouver riots

I watched the riots unfold from the stage door in Vancouver and was in utter shock by what I witnessed. The "pack mentality" and utter stupidity of a mass of individuals was astounding. It really felt like a last days sort of event and luckily we were locked in the theater for the duration so no one was harmed. I got online after returning home that night and searched Flickr for images of the riot and found some pretty spectacular shots. All links and photographers are listed below.

here is what happened...

 sang the National Anthem at a Milwaukee's Brewers game

 played a little Madame M

 made numerous cake pops for the cast and crew

 received not one, but TWO bouquets from Christine because she is so awesome

 took a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi...and learned NOTHING

  went to best friend Heather's wedding in San Diego and was beyond happy for her...also, barely made it back to my flight

went to a Bulls game in Chicago and had a sublime time

had lots and lots of rehearsal....
"people come and go so quickly here"

 had a merry little christmas with my fam in Indy

 hilarity ensues whenever I hang out with Kerry

 was a stone's throw away from the tragic shooting in Tucson, AZ....saw the president and mrs. drive by us on their way to the hospital

homemade valentine's box at girl's night

 froze, nearly coughed to death from my second bout of bronchitis, and took in gorgeous views with friends in Albuquerque 

 drove many a mile across the country with my partner in crime 

 had lots of family dinners in between shows

scored a private day at Sea World with the cast

went to the Alamo and was given a yellow rose of Texas...played with 2 sisters

 shopped in Irvine and played with my cousins twins

i left my heart in california....i need to go back and reunite with it soon

 i've now been on tour for a year and a half longer than I ever expected....ups and downs, twists and turns but all in all I am blessed and grateful for this crazy experience in my life

I saw these Glinda crowns all lined up in the hair department and wanted to shoot some pics of all the little pretties in a row. These crowns are pretty gorgeous, so 4 together were just begging to be photographed!

I threw a bridal shower for friend and castmate's Kristine and Billy (who are now married!) in Minneapolis. I put together these party favors in the colors of their wedding for a little treat after the brunch.

Supplies:
Decorative Paper
Paper Cutter
Large Circle or Scalloped paper punch
Double Sided Tape
Ribbon (optional)
Gold/Silver Pen
Candy Bars

To make:
Measure out length of candy bar
Cut decorative paper to length + 1/8 inch and seal around candy bar with double sided tape
Use scraps in coordinating paper/ribbon to cut band for the 2nd layer and seal around candy bar
Punch out circle/scalloped circle/whatever shape and label according to your event
Tape punched paper to top center of paper/ribbon band

Voila!

A few of us went apple picking at the Door Creek Orchard here in Madison, WI. It was really lovely although I wore a long sleeve shirt and still got eaten alive by mosquitoes! It was earlier in the day and EXTREMELY bright, but I still wanted to shoot because the farm was so darn cute.

As actors we often get asked a lot of (oh how do I say....) bold questions by the general public. Here are some answers to the more frequently asked questions.

q. Is this your job...I mean, do you get paid?
a. Ahem, yes we get paid. Weekly in fact, and we are on salary. I have a company who contributes to my 401k, I pay taxes (lots of taxes), we receive vacations and sick days like any other job. This is a job, not a hobby.

q. How much do you get paid?
a. How much do you get paid? See...not a tactful question. We are compensated for the many hours and demands we put into our work.

q. How old are you?
a. This question is usually asked to the ensemble group of girls when the questioner assumes we are silly girls right out of college living a silly girls dream. {Thank you for thinking we are so young :)} I am a young professional and have been working and seeking work in the business for many years.

q. Did you go to college?
a. Yes, I went to college at Brigham Young University and received my BFA. I would say that almost 100% of the women's ensemble in my show went to college to receive a Bachelor's degree, or went to an accredited training school for performing.

q. Did you have to "try-out" for this show?
a. Ha! Um, yes. We all had our own individual experience with auditioning for the show. Imagine, if you will, that there is a large city of talented people all vying for just a few positions. Needless to say, It is a very competitive field.

q. What will you do when your time with the show ends?
a. I wish I knew more specifically, but for now I will go back to NYC and keep auditioning for more work.

q. Do you have to travel your costumes?
a. No, we are a very large touring company with 17 semi trucks which move our very large set, wardrobe, make-up, hair, props, sound, and management departments stuff around the country. The costumes, designed by Tony Award Winner Susan Hilferty are taken care of by the wardrobe department and are constantly being maintained in order for them to look as brilliant as they do the first day as the last. As you can imagine they are VERY expensive and need to be treated with ultimate care in order to last for about 416 shows a year.

Yes, it can be difficult to take some of the questions on occasion, but for the most part I know they are asked in sincerity, just trying to understand this life. It is different, but in many cases it is the same as any other job. I have bosses, upper management, co-workers, schedules, meetings, etc. as you probably do in your job. Fortunately for me, I get to be dress-up, play pretend and receive applause at the end of my work day :)

The cast was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Milwaukee Brewers game tonight and we had a blast! In huge stadiums like Miller Park there is about a .5 second delay in sound and it really messes with a choir, but thanks to our conductor we really kept it together. Here's the video I shot from the field, hopefully there will be a better one from our people in the stands. Pics to come soon...

About a month ago I traveled home to welcome home my little bro from his 2 year service mission for our church. To find out more about what he and the other 52,000 missionaries click HERE. It was an amazing family time, one I will never forget. We threw a big soiree at the house and packed them in! My mom decided to have our favorite restaurant Cafe Rio cater so we could just enjoy more of each other during that week. Complete with a Sees Candy chocolate tower we stuffed ourselves silly and had such a lovely time with our close friends and family. I felt so blessed that week...I have such a wonderful family.

See the See's truffles below, and my cousins' baby Kendyll enjoying a chocolate! We used bright colors and my grandmothers silver punch bowl. Oh, and I FINALLY got to use my Cricut and make some signs for his return. That machine is AMAZING.

Oh, and this is our dog (well, Andrew's dog) Roxy....she's such a lady!

It is crazy to me when chatting in our dressing room how many people do not exfoliate! Next to cleansing and moisturizing properly it is the most important thing for my skin. Now, I don't mean scrub until you scrape off all of your healthy outer derma layers....that's just crazy talk. I mean find the routine that's right for your skin (I like to do it 3x's a week in the summer and 1-2x's a week in the winter) and put it into action. You'll see a healthier glow and minimized pores with less blackheads. Who doesn't want that!

I personally use (and have used since high school) St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It's not an Allure Favorite for no reason. It's a great product! I have also tried lots of other scrubs and microdermabrasion kits out there which were all great, but I keep going back to St. Ives Apricot Scrub because of the fab price point (like $3) and because my skin isn't extremely sensitive and really benefits from the product. It comes in original, gentle, and medicated for acne prone skin.

I really love the Fresh all natural product line and quite enjoy their body polish ($38 for 7 oz, $65 for 14.1 oz). Their face scrub is also great and would be my first recommendation after St. Ives. Also look for their soy facial cleanser....I hear amazing things from gals with sensitive skin.

A few other products which I think would be great...

Korres Pomegranate Scrub ($21) - fab packaging and great product line.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel ($44) - pricey, but I have loved every product I have used from this line.

Philosophy Microdelivery Peel Pads ($55) - super easy to use, and another great product line.

Other great product lines: Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, Boscia, Kate Somerville, DDF, Murad, Clinique, and Bliss. No matter what product you decide to use, I think it wise to start helping your cells turnover gently. Happy sloughing!!

vacation: st lucia, the island

To finish up my vacation photos I wanted to share some of our island pics from our day trip to the Pitons, the volcanic plugs in St. Lucia. I cannot even begin to describe the smell at the sulfur springs. Rotten eggs comes to mind! The island was incredibly beautiful and it was so interesting to see the people walking around their villages and walking along the side of the road. I loved to see the many homes with hanging laundry and families gathered on the front porch. All of these pics (beside the one of the three sisters) were taken from inside the moving van. Pretty good, eh?

It was an incredible vacation and experience...my actual first time using my passport if you can believe it. I can't wait to visit again!

The Wind Jammer was such a fantastic resort. It was actually on the opposite end of the island to the airport, but the taxi ride we took was fascinating and like touring the countryside. The grounds were so beautiful and the private beach was incredible. We pulled up chairs everyday and read, napped, sipped fruity drinks and swam in the ocean all day. So lovely...when can I go back?!?

So we decided to travel to the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean and I am BEYOND happy we went there. It was so beautiful, pure bliss and 100% relaxing...I couldn't have asked for more. I left Charlotte and headed to NYC to meet up with my sisters Sommer and Caitlyn. Becuase we were still deciding where to go until the night before basically (a luxury when your sister works for Jet Blue) we booked the resort the moment I landed in NYC leaving me minutes to board the plane to St. Lucia! Cutting it close?!? I had researched the resorts earlier and had settled between 2. I really wanted to stay somewhere with a private beach and the WindJammer resort kept coming up so we booked there. Such a gorgeous place! St Lucia is a beautiful island and the people are really sweet. I highly recommend it!

I've broken up the vacation pics into a few categories so I can control a ridiculous amount of pictures! I took over 600 pics in just a few days! Here are photos of our villa....

I am FINALLY taking my first vacation in over 3 years and my first break from the show since starting a year and a half ago. But here's the funny thing....I don't exactly know where I am going. Because big sis Sommer works for Jet Blue we can choose at our leisure where to go! Right now we are deciding between St. Lucia in the Caribbean and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. What to do?!? I'll fill you in on all the deets when I get back!

So the question still stands....

dancing with the stars - the finals

DWTS: THE FINALS!

Such a great night filled with fun dances and fun songs! I was a little sad there wasn't a perfect 30 of the night, but Nicole would have achieved it if not for an untimely slip. Hope you've had as much fun as I have watching this season...

CHALLENGE
Erin- Samba. Improvement but still out of your league. Liked your samba for the fun, but felt that it lacked real dance content. Fun, personality, but not int he big leagues. 29 (Seriously, 2 10's? I was SUPER surprised with that.)

Evan- Viennese Waltz. You continue to be dryer than toast on live TV. But, you have a great head of hair :) Great waltz, lots of dancing and some great choreography. This is the standard for a final! His performing stays pretty one level throughout still, though. Loved his tour jumps, but thought her weird head shake thing was really misplaced. 28

Nicole- Rumba. Loved it until the final pose. Thought it was a little too "Cirque meets Ballroom." Great dancer, good performance. 28

FREESTYLE
Erin- Contemporary. Whoa...talk about a risk. When you watch SYTYCD you can see what its really looks like when executed by professionals. I felt like they did a good job considering they both don't have technique for this (my favorite) style of dance. I thought she connected to the character of the piece well, but lacked he polish to make herself shine in this moment. 26

Evan- Love his hair like that! This is the most expressive I've seen him all season. Where has this performer been? He looks great and so free, finally. Now hearing the judges comments I am a little surprised, but I can see where they are coming from. But, I am sticking to what I think...he at least went for it this time. 24 (Anna looks so disappointed, but you could really tell throughout the number she wasn't happy with the direction of the dance and Evan's ideas....)

Nicole- Great work, fun and quick choreo. Too bad their last lift didn't execute. Big bummer. Great mix of styles and I am thrilled that she didn't just come out and give a Pussycat Dolls performance. I'm sad they'll get dinged for the last lift but they should still come out on top. 27

My results: Erin will go home first taking 3rd with Evan taking 2nd. Nicole will ultimately dominate!

ronald mcdonald house

Cast member Lesley McKinnel set up an opportunity for us to give a concert and craft with some of the kids and families who are currently staying at the Durham, NC (Duke Hospital) Ronald McDonald House. If you don't know much about a RMcD house it is a home offered for families to stay together, in proximity to a treatment hospital...basically a home away from home during a really difficult time.

We had an amazing experience and the kids were awesome. We plan on doing this in every city we go to! Thanks Ronald McDonald House for letting us come! If you would like to donate or volunteer at a Ronald McDonald house click HERE.

MONDAY NIGHT TWEETS!

It was decade night...eh. The theme shows are not my favorite. Discovered that I really don't like "futuristic" dance themes. But, I like Lady Gaga so maybe I'm confused. And I really want an iPad...what's more futuristic than that? I'll get back to you on that. Most of the dances were so-so, but I felt that Derek and Nicole ruled the night. Such great choreography. Alright, enough chit chat here's the tweets if you missed them...

Lately I've been tweeting all of my Dancing With the Stars thoughts during the show, but I wasn't able to watch live yesterday so I thought I would post about it here instead. I have too many friends who make appearances on the show to not watch. Just 2 weeks ago my dear sweet neighbor Lindsay made her prime time TV debut! Anyways, here's my run down of Monday's show.....

Cha Cha Challenge

Team Gaga: Ok, at the top it felt like something out of a high school dance team performance. When they ripped off their jackets its was pretty awkward...Ok, Pam's solo is up first. Oy Vey, those legs-can they never straighten out? She looks like Awkward Cha Cha Barbie who can't keep up and who can't point her toes. Yikes! 85 is up and he's looking decent. Thought he and Cheryl did a great job without trying too hard. Good work! Here comes Nicole and Derek. If I could change one thing about her it would be her facial expressions (and maybe her posture...ok, so 2 things). They are PERFORMING which is something you rarely see from a contestant on this show. Great work! Back together I have to give it up to 85 who was really in a groove. Holla. 27

Team Madonna: Better opening than Team Gaga. Really like their group choreography! Thought it complimented the group as a whole. Evan, don't love your jacket over bare chest, but I do love your solo. Good work. Nicey get it, you can cha cha. And the splits! Get it girl. Erin’s feet tripped her up a bit and I continue to hate her dance team hands, but her performance was really cute. I have to say I think this group was just better overall and they looked like they had more fun. Maybe some minor mistakes here and there, but they all seemed to enjoy it. Oh, and a costume reveal...get it Nicey - great gams! Love that gal! 24

I have a love for all things bees. My parents live in the Beehive state and I have had a fascination with how hard and harmoniously bees work together and persevere. I have a beautiful Dogeared bee necklace which stands for "Accomplish Magnificent Things" and I was even a bee keeper for Halloween last year. When I walked into Williams-Sonoma {also known as one of my favorite places on earth} the other day I saw a beautifully put together table top filled with servingware and glassware representing all things BEES! I have had one serious sweet tooth these days. Whether it is Trader Joe Brownie's with Sea Salt {omgoodgess} or Fro-Yo with Captain Crunch and strawberries....it doesn't matter I'm craving it! Saw these cute little jar baked pies on Not Martha and had to share. She is one magnificent lady and I am now craving these little sweeties.

One thing I learned in 2009: I LOVE my iphone. It is much easier to tour with this baby, more than anything else especially considering I happen upon a new "home" every 3-4 weeks.

Here are the apps I love and can't live without:
myWireless - AT&T's app that let's me know my phone usage so I don't have a ginormous phone bill.
Facebook - Obviously.
TweetDeck - For all of my Twitter needs.
AroundMe - When I get to a new city I need to know where the grocery store is, etc.
ManGo - Similar to AroundMe with slightly different info. I like to use both!
Fandango - What's playing, where is the nearest theater to me, how do I get there?!?
Phone Flicks - Keeping my Netflix always up to date.
Pandora - I like to listen to Adele, Ingrid Michelson radio, etc. while getting ready for the show.
Flashlight - Seriously comes in handy.
Bump - Because it's fun and useful.
MyPhone+ - When you call me your Facebook picture comes up. So happy.
Finger Piano Lite - What note does that song start on? Oh yeah, I can hear it right here.
NY Times - Obviously.
IMDb - You will catch me on this during every movie I watch. Helps with many a dressing room debate.
ESPN Score Center - I need to know how my alma mater the BYU Cougars are doing.
KAYAK, Southwest, Car Rentals, Taxi Magic, Priceline - I book travel every few weeks.
Hopstop - Use it every time I go to the village.
LDS Library - Free scrips, hymns, manuals! Love free.
Camera Genius, CameraBag, Mill Colour, ShakeIt, PS Mobile, Format 126, Snap Tell - Camera love.
FedEx - I ship luggage every few weeks.
Zip finder - Tells you your zip code. I use this LOTS.
USPS Mobile - Where is a mailbox?
Martha Everyday Food - Brand new and AWESOME.
TV Guide - Obviously.

I live on the road {this is not new news}. I don't travel with a Tivo because I've found some hotel TV's are just not reliable and frankly I don't have room in my trunk. I've been keeping a list of the TV shows I currently watch {I try to keep it up to date} on my google homepage. This feature on BuzzSugar helps me to know daily what's new. It may be archaic, but without a home to call my own this will suffice for now :)

What is your favorite thing about touring and what do you hate about touring?

I love seeing the country. It's pretty remarkable to see the differences and similarities in different cities around the country. I will say this, there is a Target and a Wal-Mart EVERYWHERE we go.

I dislike living out of a suitcase lots of days. Packing days are the worst for me, although I pretty much have it down to a science. It does help with shopping decisions as the first thing I always ask myself is can fit this in my suitcase?

After much deliberating and research I decided to donate to CARE, an amazing organization and one with a long term plan to help the people of Haiti which was the biggest factor in charity selection for me. I also really like their assistance programs that focus on helping the people to become self sufficient.

I am proud to report that through the auction and donations we have raised $730 for the people of Haiti. I received 2 large donations from a very thoughtful co-worker and a family member as well as numerous donations and support from around the web. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A few months ago I won an awesome giveaway on A Little Sussy. This is where I first started chatting with the VERY talented Aarean Jergensen of LaDitta Design. We hit it off and I proposed that instead of just a blog header, I wanted her to redesign my entire blog. Lots of emails back and forth and lots of fun ideas, we settled on my new look and I have to say I LOVE it! I wanted to do a little interview with Aarean {you'll learn how to say it in a second}......ladies and gents, here she is.....

Name: Aarean (i always tell people its pronounced like Arial but with an "N" on the end instead of an "L" it seems to help people say it right haha)
Occupation: Graphic Designer
Education/Background: I grew up in Southern California, I have four sisters, I am the second oldest...it was a lot of fun growing up in a house full of girls; well for the most part haha. When it came around to choosing a college to attend, BYU was my first choice and thankfully I got accepted. I studied Creative Advertising and minored in Graphic Design. It was then I really developed a love for graphic art.

What led you to graphic design? I actually NEVER even thought about graphic design until I was forced to take classes for it. Because I was in the creative track for advertising you were required to minor in graphic design. I am so glad it was a requirement, because I probably NEVER would have even given it a second thought. "graphic design?! Who does THAT for a living?!" boy did I have a lot to learn!? My senior year in college, I started working for a scrap book company part time designing their paper. After I graduated I started full time, and I began to get tired of it. I felt like I had a limit to what I could and couldn't design, and I didn't like that. So that is when I thought "I could start something myself" and I began little projects here and there, meanwhile working various advertising jobs; and slowly word got out that I freelance, (best advertising in the world is word of mouth right?!?). I started getting more work, and I thought "hm maybe my little business needs a name?!" So my husband and I brainstormed and he said "why not just call it LaDitta (la deet-ah) which means "company" in Italian. It just kind of stuck ever since.

Why this medium instead of other art forms? Funny that you ask. To be honest, I am not a pencil and paper kind of gal. I took a water painting class actually, and I was HORRIBLE. So to be honest, I guess I just choose the best form for my talent. I love working on the computer because you can manipulate the art in so many ways and there are always new things you can learn because technology is always changing.

What inspires you? Other creative people. I love learning from people. I love seeing how they use their talents, and I love seeing what other artists come up with and how they are able to really capture their own individual style. I'm in love with fabrics, stationary, letterpress, anything that has to do with shapes and paper. I could spend hours in a paper store. I know is that weird? {not at all!}
What is your design process? It all just depends. I like to get a feel for what my client likes, their personality, their style. As soon and I know what direction they want to go, I get to work. And all throughout this process, I like to get their opinion on things just to make sure I am going in the right direction. Always want a happy customer! :-)

What goals do you have for your design work? I am just so passionate about what I do. I love it. And for me, as long as I love it and I work hard at it, it will grow and expand to be something bigger that I had even imagined. My goal for LaDitta is to be that design business that has the reputation of quality work.

Describe your dream client. Haha oh lets see... tall, dark and handsome. No, no I am kidding. Gosh, I have met so many unique and wonderful people through freelancing that that's a hard person to describe. Since my designs are completely customized, I like it when I can bounce ideas off the client. To work with that person like a team member. That way the end result is exactly, if not more, then what they even expected!

What software and equipment do you use? I actually just upgraded from CS3 to Adobe Creative Suite 4. I got it for Christmas from my very thoughtful hubs and I LOVE IT!

Is graphic design too saturated? Are there too many designers out there? How does this affect your business? Yes, there is a lot of competition out there, you just have to find your niche that sets you apart. I have come to appreciate the "competition" though, because it makes me want to be a better designer. I just try to be the best ME...and that is all I can do.
Are you most interested in paper, blogs, websites, logos, advertising or something else? I love doing all these but I especially enjoy logos and blogs. I guess its just b/c these two things are so individualized, and I love creating things for people that help them show their true selves.

What advice would you give to someone starting out or interested in graphic design? I would say be true to YOURSELF, as cliche as that sounds. But, what I mean by that is create things according to YOUR style. People appreciate authenticity. And also, that you're not going to learn everything at once. Graphic Design is something you learn as time goes on. I am still learning. I hope that never stops. Its the beauty of the occupation.

A couple of months ago on a short trip home to NYC I was fortunate enough to catch a special screening of Rob Marshall's Nine for the Broadway community. Such fun to see so many friends, munch on free concessions, and see a a great musical movie. I had my camera on me so when they started to bring out the "special guests" I was ready. I really only thought it would be Rob Marshall and was thrilled to see him, but lo and behold he started to introduce most of the cast, creatives and producers {including one of my Wicked producers} and we all kind of went wild. It was really fun, needless to say.....

The film had some standout moments but overall I was underwhelmed. Fergie, Penelope and Marion were INCREDIBLE and I loved Kate's Cinema Italiano {not so much her scenes}. Always love Daniel Day and the brilliant Dame Judi Dench. The film is quite beautiful and Rob Marshall really can showcase a musical number. Bellissimo!

It's award season.....let the cattiness ensue. Yes, E Television I am talking about you. All the hard work these gals put into looking their best on the red carpet and seconds later are ripped to shreds. It's a blood bath out there....must be why the carpet is red. {But seriously ladies, put some of it away....yes, Mariah I am now talking to you.}

I'm just going to show a few of my favorites....because well there are lots of Wicked fans out there who see PLENTY of unflattering pictures of me on facebook and other places, so who am I to judge?!?

Diane Kruger's mustard dress with a red lip is by far my favorite of the year so far. She looks stunning and timeless.
Lea Michelle is having a HUGE year for her career. While I wasn't gobsmacked over her gigantic Globes dress, I really liked this simple jewel tone number.

My favorite look of the night. Probably just because I love her. And because the color of her hair is so fantastic. While some didn't love it, I thought it was memorable and not too over the top. And I do love a little ruffle.I thought Courtney Cox just looked beautiful. I love a simple black dress and with that bit of detail around the waist I think she looks stunning.

One of my resolutions is to serve others and love more freely. I was able to donate to the people of Haiti today with 100% of proceeds going to the people of Haiti. There are lots of places to help. If you can't help monetarily donate your time, talents or just send prayers to the many who are struggling right now.

I celebrated my December birthday with 2 shows! Hurrah! {I'm 31....ugh.}

Everyone made a great effort to make it a spectacular event. I share my actual birthday with castmate and dear friend Daniel Torres. We had a party after the 2nd show at a great little restaurant in downtown Schenectady called Ambition. They reopened their place just for us to have our little party. So VIP!

Since Daniel and I were born on the same day same year we had a TWINSIE party where everyone had to come as a twin. We went as "Sagitari-twins!" So clever, soooo Daniel's genius. But we had some awesome ideas too....a Michael Jackson pair, conjoined twins, a fierce dressed girl {Kristine} with a picture of her dead twin in a locket, and classic twins. For those who didn't dress up Daniel and I decided we should SHAME them by having them wear stick on mustaches all night. Sorry, but you should have dressed up :)

book of myself

Ok, so one of my resolutions this year is to journal more.

Well, I guess I should say ACTUALLY journal since I didn't really do it at all last year.

I picked up The Book of Myself by David Marshall and Carl Marshall at the Anthropologie in Philly {oh wow, it is amazing...4 floors!} and I am sooo looking forward to filling out my personal history one day at a time. Last night I filled in the first page entitled, "How people described me as a child and how I saw myself." Of course the first thing that popped into my mind was how my mother always called me the party girl. I just loved a good birthday party or holiday! I also wrote about how shy I was with people I didn't know, and how I wore a big skirt dress everyday that had to twirl just right so the layers of fabric would ripple all around me as I turned. It was really quite wonderful thinking of that person and what traits I still have.

I can't wait to do the next page tonight! I highly recommend filling out your own personal history whether it be by daily/weekly journal writing, or filling out a personal history book like this one. What fun it will be for your children and grandchildren to read. It would also be great to sit down with a grandparent or family member and fill in the answers as they rattle off old memories. Such a gift!

So you might have noticed I've done a complete OVERHAUL on the blog! I also finally did something that I have wanted to do for a LONG time.....I changed the name. I just felt that I wanted something more where I am at now than when I started the blog 2 years ago (yes we are almost 2!). I decided to go with {people. places. things} because frankly that's what I blog about! It's as simple as that. I hope you like it!

I also hope you LOVE my new blog design! I won a blog header design over at Nicole's blog, A Little Sussy {my headshot photographer, friend, and all around AWESOME person}. When I first spoke with Aarean from LaDitta Design I knew we would work well together. She's fun and a SoCal girl like me, we hit it off immediately! I basically asked her off the bat if instead of just a header could I do a completely new blog design {and I would pay the difference of course} and she was totally on board. Lots of back and forth and voila! What do you think? I will be doing a feature with Aarean because I think she is one to watch in 2010.

My sis is not on board with the google ads to the side...they will disappear when I find sponsors and make this a side job since I spend so much time on it, so the ads stay for now! Sponsors, click on the Advertise button on the top!

My holiday's were a little blah as I was SUPER sick. I was out 7 shows and miserable. I spent NYE playing a rousing game of Monopoly which ended up lasting 2 days and with me owning EVERYTHING and completely dominating the game. So freaking fun! I also rang in the new year with my cast {pics to come} and played with my new Cannon Rebel T1i DSLR that I got for Christmas, thanks mom and dad! Can't wait to learn how to use it :) I will be attending either one of Nicole's workshops or reading her new textbook for sure. We finally left Schenectady and are in Philly. Can't wait to explore here.

Resolutions and more blog posts to come soon. I currently don't have internet so it should be fun to figure out how I am going to watch Desperate Housewives and blog. You know, the important things. Happy New Year and thanks for reading.

It's been kind of a rough week.

Within the past 5 days I have...

turned 31
been diagnosed with bronchitis/pneumonia
missed 3 shows because I was on bed rest
missed our secret santa dinner and door decorating contest
flew home {2 layovers} for 24 hours to celebrate with my family

I am thankful for the short time I have with my family. I miss them so.
We will get to talk to our missionary brother tomorrow. So excited!
Tonight we will read of Christ's birth and open presents from Christmas Eve {jammies}.
See you next week when hopefully I'll be all better!
